“Would I class this as semi-sweet or fully sweet? It's probably somewhere in upper Spätlese to Auslese territory, but is a truly glorious Riesling, brimming with sweet nectarine and mango, a definite touch of Botrytis honey and barley sugar, and a zesty touch of lime peel. It has such luscious fruit sweetness on the palate, more of that peach and apricot flesh juiciness, tropical notes, and a riveting core of grapefruit acidity. It's easy to over-mark sweeter wines, but this is incredibly well done and utterly delicious.   94/100”

Our Jacksons Road vineyard has a long history of producing stunning Rieslings, with our first Riesling vines planted in 1990. The previous vintages of this wine have won numerous golds and trophies and had excellent reviews. 2014 was a good Riesling vintage in Marlborough and the hand-picked fruit for this wine came into the winery in pristine condition.

Mid, golden straw in colour, this distinctive Riesling has a rich nose of dried apricots, jasmin florals, manuka honey, orange peel, apples and ripe stone-fruit.  These initial nuances carry through on the palate, which is immediately appealing, unctuous and moreish and keeps building in intensity with rich, spicy fruits; stone-fruits, citrus, toffee apples, honey and ginger. The acid sweetness balance is impeccable and there is a lovely minerally character running through the wine. This is a crisp, elegant, refreshing wine with loads of appeal. It lingers beautifully leaving a gentle floral, honey and fruity taste in the mouth. This wine is sure to give great pleasure as it ages gracefully and continues to improve and develop even greater depth and charm over time.

 Reviews

The wine offers waves of delicious flavours. The fabulously fragrant bouquet shows lemon curd, mango, mandarin and exotic floral notes, followed by a delectable palate that is filled with attractive fruit flavours and appealing sweetness (40 g/l), which is perfectly balanced by juicy acidity. Absolutely gorgeous. At its best: now to 2022.                                                                                                                                          *****  96/100

Honey, musk, marmalade and lemon curd. A lovely powerful nose with botrytis notes that suggest a dessert style. Rich, dense and oily on the front palate with flavours of honey and citrus and a whisper of corruption. A fine line of acidity gives this lovely freshness, finishing drier than earlier suggestions.     Sumptuous.   Excellent to Outstanding
